Jay Baruchel Promises Goon 2

Goon posterWhile diehard hockey fans (like yours truly) try to come to terms with another season-threatening lockout, there is at least some good news on the horizon for puck heads: a sequel to Goon?is headed our way.

Jay Baruchel revealed the news via Twitter. The basic gist of the series of tweets is that Baruchel will team with Jesse Chabot to write the new script and that Michael Dowse will return to direct.

The original film was based on the book Goon: The True Story of an Unlikely Journey into Minor League Hockey by Adam Frattasio and Doug Smith. The indie-film version instantly became one of the best sports movies in recent memory and arguably the best hockey film since Slapshot.

Baruchel promises that the cast will all be back for the sequel and that he and the creative team will "give them and you guys the epic, violent, heartfelt awesomeness that is not just deserved but required." Sounds good to us.?

No word yet on when Goon 2 might start shooting, but with the way things are going we could see it long before the return of real NHL hockey?

Apple?s Maps app under serious fire for jeopardizing public safety

The government of Ireland is demanding Apple issue immediate fixes to a serious error

Apple's iOS 6, the long-awaited update to the company's popular mobile operating system, has come under some serious fire as of late. People are complaining about battery life issues and problems with the new Passbook app, but few things have gotten the public more upset than the switch from Google Maps to a in-house map application called Maps. Now, joining the chorus is the government of Ireland, which is demanding Apple issue an immediate fix to Maps due to public safety concerns.

Ireland's concern centers around a 35-acre farm called "Airfield Park" in South Dublin. The new version of Apple's Maps application takes the name Airfield Park a bit too literally, designating the public attraction as a working airport. That has country officials concerned that Airfield Park's erroneous listing may result in crashed airplanes. Says Ireland's Minister for Justice Alan Shatter, "Clearly the designation is not only wrong but is dangerously misleading in that it could result in a pilot, unfamiliar with the area, in an emergency situation and without other available information, attempting a landing. I have arranged that Apple be informed of the error and requested that it be urgently corrected."

Unfortunately for Apple, the situation at Airfield Park is not an isolated incident. Users of iOS 6 from around the world have been issuing complaint after complaint over the new Maps application, citing public and religious buildings being listed as hotels, dining recommendations at long-out-of-business restaurants, and worse.
Just as humorously, New York City locals are upset over the way their major landmarks are appearing ? or not appearing, in the case of The Statue of Liberty ? on Maps' new 3D mode. Brooklyn residents seem especially upset that the iconic Brooklyn Bridge, when viewed in three dimensions, appears to melt into the ground.

Libya offers further apology for U.S. envoy's death

TRIPOLI (Reuters) - Libya apologized on Thursday to visiting U.S. Deputy Secretary of State William Burns for an attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi in which American ambassador Christopher Stevens died.

Burns was holding talks in Tripoli with Libyan leaders, including new Prime Minister Mustafa Abu Shagour and Mohammed Magarief, head of the national congress, following last week's assault, in which three other Americans were also killed.

He was also due to attend a ceremony commemorating Stevens.

Foreign Minister Ashour Bin Khayyal apologized for the violence on Tripoli's behalf, praising Stevens as a "friend of Libya", a foreign ministry official said .

The four Americans died when gunmen attacked the consulate and a safe house in the eastern city of Benghazi. The attackers were among a crowd protesting against a privately financed video made in California that mocks Islam and the Prophet Mohammad.

Matthew Olsen, director of the U.S. government's National Counterterrorism Center, on Wednesday called the assault a "terrorist attack" and said officials were looking at whether those involved had links to al Qaeda, particularly its North African affiliate, al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb.

The Libyan foreign ministry official said Burns and Bin Khayyal had discussed U.S. involvement in the investigation, as well as broader security and economic cooperation.

Magarief, who apologized last week "to the United States, the people and the whole world" for the Benghazi attack, also agreed in a telephone call with U.S. President Barack Obama that their countries would work together to investigate it.

Libya sacked its security chiefs for Benghazi after the attack and another official, tasked with employing militia fighters in the police in the east of the country, said on Thursday he had resigned because the recruits were not being paid or supplied adequately.

Libya's interim government has struggled to impose its authority on a myriad of armed groups that have refused to lay down their weapons since last year's overthrow of Muammar Gaddafi. The fighters often take the law into their own hands.

Justin Bieber Offered Minor League Hockey Contract

We already knew that Justin Bieber was a baller. The singer was named MVP of the 2011 Celebrity All-Star Game.

But at least one minor league hockey team admires the artist for his moves on the ice as well: the Bakersfield Condors have offered Bieber a contract!

Justin Bieber in Germany

Says Matt O'Dette on the squad's website, regarding why his team has been afflicted with Bieber Fever:

"Very rarely do you see this combination of skill and toughness. We share a common Canadian heritage since we both hail from Ontario. I've scouted some video of him online skating with my hometown team, the Toronto Maple Leafs, and I think he could provide some elusive speed up front for us. Plus, he's a right-handed shot which we've been looking to add. I think if we paired him on a line with (Robby) Dee and (Peter) Boyd we'd be tough to beat."

The site adds that Justin "possesses soft hands, a good skating stride, and a devastating wrist shot capable of beating NHL caliber goaltenders. He appears to be strong in shootouts as well."

Look out, Martin Brodeur!

Turkish couple exchanges wedding vows via Twitter

House Democrats hope to pick up a minimum of 27 seats to reclaim the majority, most of them in states that are not battlegrounds in the presidential election, Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said on Tuesday. At an event hosted by National Journal and The Atlantic at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, Pelosi said she expects half of the pickups to come from four states: Texas, California, Illinois and New York. LOS ANGELES (AP) ? The fright flick "The Possession" has scared up a No. 1 debut with $17.7 million from Friday to Sunday over the long Labor Day weekend.

The Lionsgate release led the last weekend of a fairly quiet season for Hollywood, with attendance down 4 percent from summer 2011, according to box-office tracker Hollywood.com.

Opening in second-place with $9.7 million was the Weinstein Co. bootlegging drama "Lawless," starring Shia LaBeouf.

"The Expendables 2" pulled in $8.8 million, falling to No. 3 after two weekends as the top draw at theaters.

Expanding to more theaters, the anti-Barack Obama documentary "2016: Obama's America" added to its haul as a surprise mini-hit leading up the presidential election. "Obama's America" was No. 9 with $5.1 million, raising its domestic total to $18.3 million.

Positive Attitude Is A Way Of Life With Self Improvement Products ...

Here?s a little Self Improvement exercise before we begin. Sit for a moment and examine your thoughts. Are they positive or negative?

Have you ever wondered if a person crossing you on the street can be aware of your thoughts?

The answer is not really specific. But it has been proven that people can sense the basic mental state of their peers.

Now, suppose you arrive at a party where a lot of your friends are present? What is your usual perception: they suddenly hush up in an apparent gloom? Or do you get the feeling of excitement and welcoming?

You might have realised now that these answers are entirely dependent on your perspective and chain of thought.

Thoughts are an influential tool. They define your attitude and appearance. This might not be applicable if you are adept at acting.

However, this attitude stemming from your thoughts has ability to cause an effect upon your peers.

Whether your attitude is positive or negative is entirely dependent on you.

Positivity is uplifting and refreshing. They make you feel full and similarly affect the people that surround you, making them happy and enthusiastic too.

Negativity is, however, deteriorating. It drains your energy and causes depression and, of course, spreads similar effects.

Where positive outlook charms people, negativity keeps them at bay. Positive people are the life of any party, and negative people can be real killjoys.

Attitude is, partly, your perception of the world. They say life is like a mirror. So if you look at the world with negativity, that?s what your life is going to be full of as you are possessing a negative attitude. Choosing to focus on the silver lining, however, can bring a lot of good your way since your outlook is positive.

Positivity is beneficial for health too. It equips you with better stress handling ability and less problems come your way too. You also tend to have many friends.

It enables you to create a respectful image of yourself. Being able to accept and love yourself, you tend to be more content, happy and confident. And you spread that feeling around you.

Negativity is, obviously, the other end of the pole, so it creates brings about events exactly opposite to that when possessing positivity. Not only do you put yourself down in your own eyes, you spread that distasteful feeling to others.

It is important that you have a healthy outlook in life if you want to cultivate a positive attitude towards life. It can be quite difficult as we hear and see mostly negativity in the world today. It was shown in a study that a parent spoke only one positive thing per fourteen times in a conversation. This is something that is truly depressing.

However, you can change this by choosing to filter what you hear and only take in the positive news. Some of the easiest ways would be to watch a comedy movie or TV show, play with kids, joke and hold light repartee with your friends and family, exercise, indulge in a positive activity.

It is not feasible to see all the positivity without coming in contact with the other side of the coin. But it is a personal choice to embrace positivity.

This positivity will spread on its own. When things appear gloomy, people often need someone to listen and be supportive instead of giving advice. With positivity, however, you could make them feel better by just being around them!

Even though positivity is so beneficial, why are some people still so negative? This may be a sign for help. Such people may need support and attention. I?m not saying that it?s unacceptable to be sad or angry. My point is that brooding over these negative thoughts can be harmful. One cannot mope forever.

The best thing to do, even when things seem bleak and dreadful, is to look at the silver lining. Reminding yourself of all the good things that have come your way can often lighten up the mood. You have to accept that problems and failures always teach you a lesson. There?s no harm in developing a positive attitude. Positive outlook slows down aging and has many health benefits too. You spread the positivity and accompanying happiness. Try and adopt a positive attitude towards life. Starting today!

I have a special offer to get you started, I?m only making this offer to a few selected people, and when the few spaces I have are taken I?ll be withdrawing the offer without notice so if you would like to take advantage of these FREE up dates for a limited period only then visit the following website: http://positivemindfood.com
